As part of my ongoing effort to improve Ben's World of Transformers I have added new photography and thoughts to my review of Super Mach Alert! Toy News: "Masterpiece" Optimus Primal prototype photos

2016 is the 20th Anniversary of "Beast Wars Transformers", the series that helped to revive the "Transformers" franchise after "Generation 2" ended. As part of their celebration for this milestone Takara Tomy is releasing a "Masterpiece" version of Optimus Primal! Fans have seen teases for a while but this is our first look at the figure in plastic form. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Light up eyes
  • Multiple facial expressions in beast mode
  • Shoulder cannons
  • Forearm cannons
  • Twin swords

Toy News: "Unite Warriors" Blast-Off close up photos

Ever since Takara teased a Blast Off figure for "Unite Warriors" fans have been excited to see just what the Combaticon would look like. Now thanks to a photo of a magazine scan from Japan we have our first look at the grey model! Blast Off takes most of his design cues from the animation model. Fans may recall that the original Combaticon animation models differed quite a bit from their toy counterparts. Not so with this figure!
