"Revenge of the Fallen" brings in the cash overseas

"Revenge of the Fallen" has not only been a success in the US, but overseas the film is enjoying fantastic box office returns overseas as well. Variety reports that the film has grossed a total of $220 million overseas as of Tuesday. The article predicts continued financial growth for the Transformers sequel overseas stating "The first "Transformers" grossed $318 million domestically and $389 million overseas. Sequel should have no trouble jumping the $400 million mark at the foreign B.O.".

Critics and audiences experience a disconnect as "Revenge of the Fallen" does well despite negative reviews

The LA Times interviewed Michael Bay regarding the critical reaction to "Revenge of the Fallen". Despite horrible reviews that call "Revenge of the Fallen" everything from "beyond bad" (Rolling Stone) to "sloppy" (The Village Voice), "Revenge of the Fallen" has become the holder of a second place spot for movie earnings in a five day period, surpassed only by last year's "The Dark Knight". Director Michael Bay doesn't seem surprised by this. Says Bay "I think they reviewed the wrong movie.

Challenges of shooting at the pyramids of Egypt

USA Today has posted an article talking about the challenges of gaining permission to film at Egypt's famous pyramids and the challenges of filming once they were there. Not only was director Michael Bay able to film the pyramids, he was able to film on them. According to the article "...Bay himself stood on a high ledge filming scenes with actor John Turturro (reprising his role as the blowhard former government agent who's a Transformers expert).".

Stocks rise thanks to "The Fallen"

According to Reuters, the runaway success of "Transformers Revenge of the Fallen" has helped the stocks of several theater chains rise as high as ten percent. Shares of Paramount and Viacom have also risen thanks to the success of the film. IMAX has also benefitted with a nineteen percent increase. We're still in a recession, so such favorable numbers in an industry that has been declining are encouraging to business owners and analysts alike. "Transformers" has even defied expert predictions.
