TV Show News: "Nezha: Transformers" Trailer Posted Online
The Transformers brand is going mythological with a new cartoon and toy line called Nezha: Transformers. Originally announced two years ago, there have been some small bits of information popping up online including a set of action figures. Now we have our first solid look at the animated series thanks to Ji Xiaodong on Youtube:
According to China.org.cn: CCTV Animation also released the poster on its Weibo account Wednesday, saying that "Nezha: Transformers" will bring together the "world-famous animation icon" of Transformers and Nezha that "represents Chinese culture and spirit.". The animation style appears to borrow from the current Cyberverse cartoon with new characters and settings appearing alongside existing characters such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, Grimlock and Bumblebee.
So far if the report from @saberconvoy on Twitter is correct, there will be a three pack of characters as part of the Nezha: Transformers toy line. This set will include:
- Nezha is a supernatural entity from Chinese folk religion (with roots in Hindu mythology). He is also known as the "Marshal of the Central Altar" and the "Third Lotus Prince" (which comes into play in the trailer).
- Lei Zhenzi is a celestial being that was created by a thunderstorm featured in the Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods.
- Tu Xingsun is a character often represented in Chinese Opera with a yellow mask.
On top of all this, a promotional poster has been posted online by Yu's Hobby Land on Facebook.
There is no telling if this series will be released outside of China, but it represents a very interesting take on the Transformers franchise!
