Writing duo of Kurtzman and Orci move on from the Transformers universe

There's no doubt that the duo of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have been on a fast track to Hollywood writing greatness the past few years. Their work on the first Transformers film translated a story to live action that many never thought would be possible. Their work on the recent "Star Trek" movie helped bring the franchise back from life support. Now however the time has come for them to move on according to this article on Slash Film. The plan is to place writer Ehren Kruger (who reportedly penned a lot of the "humor" in "Revenge of the Fallen") as the head writer for the film.

Personally, this worries me to the extreme. I often sensed that "Revenge of the Fallen" was two films mashed into one. One was a serious science fiction movie about a threat to the Earth. Another was about robots humping legs and talking smack like fake gangstas. As a fan, I prefer more of the former and well...NONE of the latter. Fingers crossed.

Awful is a given, but neither more nor less so

It takes a lot more people than a writer to make a movie. I really can't see this movie taking on any different a flavor from the first two without a full-on directorial change.
