Tech Specs:
HIGHLINE 1070 knows where you're at. Any creature he establishes a connection with, either physically, or through his communications system is saved in his extensive target list. Those that get labeled as DECEPTICONS, he tracks continually, waiting for them to be in a perfect spot for an ambush. Then, he lays traps designed specifically for each enemy, and moves in to finish them off.

Highline 1070 is part of the first wave of 2008 Real Gear releases. He is a redeco of the sculpt used for Speed Dial 800 and Wire Tap V20. This review will focus on the changes made to the figure for this release.

Cell Phone Mode:
Highline is cast in the most "Autobot" of colors: red. His translucent plastic lense remains clear plastic. Like Wire Tap V20, the front face of the phone is painted metallic silver. The sticker in the middle has an Autobot symbol on a white background. A reflection of the symbol can be seen below it, almost as if it were in front of a shiny, reflective surface. Under the symbol are the words "1 Missed Call", which is a neat change from the times used on the previous two versions of this figure. He also has another detail in common with Wire Tap V20. The sides have silver parts painted on the bottom, though interestingly enough his non-working buttons on the sides are not painted at all, which really surprised me.

Flip the phone open and you'll see the faux LCD screen has a totally different graphic layout than previous releases. A large Autobot symbol is in the center with tech detailing around it. On the left side (as you face the screen) is an envelope icon indicating a message of some sort is waiting to be read. On the right is a bell representing an alarm. At the top, in the middle is a battery life indicator (nicely drawn indicating he is down a couple bars of power). The center has the letters "TF4ever" over the Autobot symbol and the time below it. Below the time is the Menu icon.

On the other half of the phone, a metallic silver Autobot symbol can be found above the scrolling wheel in the center. The details here pretty much match up with Wire Tap V20 including the left side top button having two dots on it while the right side button has three. The words "Send" and "Menu" replace the two phone symbol icons from Wire Tap and Speed Dial's pads. The area around the scroll wheel is painted metallic silver while the letters and numbers are white. Finally, the border surrounding the LCD screen is painted dark grey. Overall this color scheme is simple and works very well as the embodiment of Autobot colors. It's definitely eye catching and the use of "1 Missed Call" is cute.

Robot Mode:
Highline 1070's newly revealed robot parts are cast in dark brown. This includes his upper arms, thighs and claws. His lower face is painted silver, as are the details inside his forearms. While the painted Autobot symbol on his chest looks nice, I would have much preferred a nice tampographed one. I just think they look nicer and bolder.

All of Highline's joints are tight and his transformation works smoothly so there does not appear to have been any mold degradation issues.

Final Thoughts:
As cell phone toys go, this one is pretty neat considering that it is a robot in disguise. I also like this color scheme since what we're seeing are colors often associated with Autobots all worked into one figure such as red, white and silver. I like the concept a lot, and it would probably tickle my fancy a lot more if this weren't the third release of a weak figure. If you missed the first two releases of this sculpt and really, really want a cell phone Transformer - this one is for you. Otherwise you can give it a pass.
