Function: Aerial Intelligence
"A pterosauroid Transformer who works for Flame Convoy. When he activates his Animatros Force Chip's ignition, his Slash Knives spring out of his sharp, swordlike wings, and he attacks his enemy at super speed while slicing through the wind. We should keep an eye on the skies when we hear the sound of the wind."

The form of a pterosaur is one of those that is found in Transformers lines over and over. Whenever an aerial creature is needed in a line,
it seems to be one of the fallback forms. Terrashaver is Galaxy Force's contribution to this group of Transformers. Hailing from the planet of Animatros, Terrashaver is a Destron warrior.
One thing the beast era of Transformers, it became the norm for Transformers to be designed with techno-organic styling. Scales, fur patterns etc. became part of the normal beast designs. With Galaxy Force, there is a return to more G1 oriented fully mechanical beasts. However, unlike many G1 beasts, sculpting has advanced enough that being mechanical looking does not mean blocky and bad looking.
Terrashaver's head is long, with a sharp looking beak and a crest extending behind the head. While it is sculpted with several angled lines, it also has a lot of smooth curves and circular shapes on it, making it look both mechanical and sleek at the same time. His main body is very appropriately designed as it has two huge vents on the front, and details that look like an engine on the top complete with tubes intake/output vents. What's really nice on the main body is the section leading into the back, which shows layers of armor converging into the tail. The wings are very tech looking, with nice lined and curved details. However, they also have hands/claws at the ends and the general shape looks like they have a skeletal structure with webbing in between. There are also teeth sculpted into the lower mouth. One of my favorite details can be found in the neck, which has curves and several segmented tubes sculpted into it. It looks fantastic.
Terrashaver has three of the iconic Destron colors: purple, silver and black. The purple can be found on his wings, his crest and the center of the main body. The silver can be found on his claws and the black makes up the upper legs while translucent black is used for the wings. The central body and most of the head is primarily grey with a neon shade of green used for the lower legs, beak, neck and the edges of the wings. A dark shade of orange can be found o the top of the head and the large vents on the central body. A Decepticon symbol is tampographed onto the right wing.
Terrashaver has fifteen points of articulation in this form. This includes five points of articulation in each leg, and the mouth, which can open and close. Insert his Force Chip and two serrated blades extend out from the edges of the wings, pointing forward. Between the beak and the blades, Terrashaver looks like one dangerous beast!
The Force Chip included with Terrashaver is the standard Animatros chip in green translucent plastic with silver on the edges.
Transformation to Beast Mode:
- Pull the robot head up. It is located in the middle of the central body section.
- Swing the wings up.
- swing the beast mode legs up on the hinge that connects them to the main body.
- Fold the claws in and rotate the arms around.
- Swing down the robot leg from the underside of the beast mode.
- Flip the robot foot up and straighten the leg out.
- Swing the beast mode head down on the hinge.
- Straighten out the beast mode head, flip the mouth open and fold the beak up to form the robot foot, and then push the mouth piece back into place.
- Turn the waist piece around so the beast mode head leg is the right leg.
Terrashaver has a really dynamic looking robot mode. His overall form is full of sharp angles and sleek lines. The biggest details of course are the wings, which sweep back leading to the tail which is now the back of the chest. The vents from the beast mode are on the chest, a clear sign of his aerial and mechanical nature all in one detail. His beast mode claws are his hands, and with three points of articulation each, it's nice to be able to adjust them enough to be able to hold a weapon. His grip isn't firm, but depending on the weapon it works well enough for display. The legs are asymmetrical thanks to the unique transform, but it actually works out well because their shapes are similar, each fairly curved ending in pointed feet.
One interesting and unexpected homage detail can be found on the robot head. Terrashaver actually has a head that pays homage to the G1 Decepticon giant Piranacon, who was more recently released as God Neptune. Like that sculpt, the head has a high, thin central crest with two angled pieces splayed out to the wides. His face also includes a rectangular mouthplate that resembles a rebreather from a scuba outfit, a detail that Piranacon/God Neptune also had. This head is a much more stylized version of that head however and looks fantastic, especially combined with the segmented tube details for the robot neck.
All the beast mode colors carry over into the robot mode. Thanks to the robot head, lower arms and legs a lot more neon green shows here. His face and neck are black with red eyes.
Terrashaver has twenty two points of articulation in robot mode. This includes four in each leg and six in each arm. The Force Chip gimmick works in this form as well, giving him blades pointing at any potential enemies up front.
Terrashaver is a very cool toy. He's not exactly perfect. I would've liked a bit more deco detail on his tech details and some type of hand held or arm mounted weapon would have been cool as well. Still, the transformation is nice and unique and he has fantastic articulation. Recommended.
