Actor News: "Beast Wars Transformers" Voice Actor Pauline Newstone Has Passed Away

Sad news from the world of voice actorsAccording to a post on Facebook by fellow fan Candice Santora, Beast Wars Transformers voice actor Pauline Newstone has passed away (though her exact date of death is unknown at this time).  Santora is well known among the Vancouver voice actor community so I trust her word.

Entertainment: Several Transformers Action Figures Appear in Netflix's "Fubar"

Yesterday Netflix debuted its newest action series Fubar.  The series stars action star Arnold Schwarzenegger as a CIA operative who is about to retire but then gets pulled into a new mission.  During the third episode titled "Honeyplot" two characters go into an apartment with lots of pop culture collectibles including several Transformers toys!  I've taken screenshots below and labeled them by numbers.  Here's what I've spotted (see if you can spot more!):

Entertainment: Actor Jason Jansen Posts Behind the Scenes footage of Optimus Prime with Tommy Kennedy

In the waning days of the Generation One era, the budget allocated to entertainment had been severely cut by Hasbro management.  To keep the cartoon going into a fifth season it was decided to repackage old episodes with bookends featuring a live action puppet of Powermaster Optimus Prime interacting with a character named Tommy Kennedy (played by actor Jason Jankowski aka Jason Jansen).  The writers of these segments used these intros and outros to name drop figures that were current at the time including the Pretender, Landmine and Quickswitch bu

TV Shows: "The Transformers: The Movie" Inspired "Star Trek Picard"

Transformers has always been a science fiction show that took inspiration (and sometimes sound effects) from other science fiction/fantasy programs. Now the tables have turned with the most recent episode of Star Trek: Picard taking inspiration from the opening scene of The Transformers: The Movie! In the 1986 film, we are introduced to the character of Unicron as he passes in between two suns. In "Picard", the Starship Titan is hiding out near a sun. Entertainment News: Netflix debuts "BotBots" Cartoon Trailer

Hot on the heels of announcing the BotBots cartoon, Netflix has posted a trailer featuring our first look at the animation and characters in the show! If you have a Netflix account, going to the BotBots listing will auto-play the trailer, but Shawflix on Youtube has uploaded the trailer for a wider audience. Check it out in the embed below! BotBots is scheduled to debut on Netflix on March 25, 2022.

Entertainment News: "Transformers" Appears on Jeapordy!

Transformers have had decades to cement themselves into pop culture and they sometimes pop up in the most unexpected places. On the February 16, 2022 episode of the Jeopardy! National College Championship one of the clues was "These toys that became a TV and Movie franchise sprang from Japanese toy lines called Diaclone and Micro Change" which of course references the Transformers brand! Megan Sullivan, a Junior at the University of Virginia provided the correct answer (or really, question given the show's format) earning her $400 in the process!

Movie News: "Rise of the Beasts" Release Date Delayed

Transformers fans who were looking forward to seeing Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons mixing it up on the big screen will have to wait an additional year.  According to Deadline, Rise of the Beasts has been moved from June 24, 2022 all the way to June 9, 2023.  No reason was cited for this move, however the Cybertronians are not alone.  A new Star Trek film that had been in development has
