Hasbro Pulse held a Fan First Friday event today. During this live stream, three new Studio Series 1986 figures were revealed: Perceptor, Starscream and Sweep! Perceptor is an all new figure while Starscream is a redeco of the Earthrise Starscream figure with "Coronation" gear including a cape and throne (bumping him up to Leader Class). Sweep is of course, a redeco of Scourge. You can watch the stream and check out official product descriptions and images below. I have also linked to the BigBadToyStore and Entertainment Earth pages for those items.
Thanks to listings on Amazon Japan, we now have our first look at the next two figures in the Premium Finish series. The next two will be Megatron from the 2007 live action Transformers film and Siege Ultra Magnus. Both feature new decos that are intended to bring the figures more in line with their on-screen appearances. Megatron is priced on Amazon Japan at ¥6,160 (about $55.65 USD) while Ultra Magnus is priced at ¥8,917 (about $80.55). Both figures are due out in Japan on December 29, 2021.
Takara Tomy has posted new listings on its web site for three of the upcoming Studio Series 1986 figures: Gnaw, Slug with Daniel Witwicky and Wreck-Gar. Gnaw is listed at 3520 Yen (about $32.13 USD), Slug at 7920 Yen (about $72.30 USD) and Wreck-Gar at 5500 Yen (about $50.21). Each figure is listed with a release date of November 2021. These are not the actual US prices of course, as generally Japanese prices for Transformers are higher than the prices of their US counterparts.
Release Date: February 2019
Price Point: $29.99 (Varies by retailer)
Retailer: General Release (Toys R Us, K-Mart, Target etc.)
A few days ago images were posted online of an upcoming sub-series of Transformers called the "Premium Finish" series. The series appears to focus on providing new and well, premium quality decos to mass release figures from the past. The first two figures shown were Siege Optimus Prime and Studio Series Bumblebee from the "Bumblebee" movie.
In an out of the blue reveal, In Demand Toys has revealed that Takara Tomy will be releasing a series of figures under the "Premium Finish" name. The implication is that these figures will feature "premium" decos compared to their mass release counterparts. The photos posted by In Demand show Siege Optimus Prime and Studio Series Volkswagon Beetle Bumblebee as the first two releases in this series. However, the photos are a bit fuzzy and it is hard to tell just how extensively the decos have been changed.
Fellow fan site TFW2005 has reported some new listings for the Studio Series line of movie based figures. There is a lot to absorb here as the line continues to expand beyond the traditional "Bayverse" characters. From the Bumblebee Movie fans can expect characters seen in the exciting opening scene on Cybertron including Brawn and Ratchet! Then on the other side we have more characters coming from the "1986" sub-line of Studio Series figures. These include Perceptor and a Junkion named Junkyard.
