Background
In March 2025 Hasbro gave its first look at the Cyberworld Toy Line at Toy Fair 2025. This line is aimed at younger fans offering figures that can interact with one another mostly through their accessories. The line promised to introduce many classic characters in new forms while others would nod to their G1 counterparts. The first online retailer to carry these figures was BWTF affiliate site Entertainment Earth and would later start trickling out to Target stores and Amazon in July 2025. Galvatron is one of the first figures in the mid-sized Armored Cyber Changers assortment.
Packaging
Galvatron is packaged in an open box, similar in style to what past toy lines like Cyberverse have used. The box is mostly white with red and white text. The figure is in robot mode and attached to the cardboard by rubber ties. The section in front of the figure features a horizontal "Transformers" logo (a big change from the past decade or so) along with the "Cyberworld" logo. To the right is artwork of Galvatron in beast mode. Behind the figure to the right is artwork of him in robot mode. To the left are a series of symbols showing the figure having 5 transformation steps and the "6+" age recommendation under it. The back features Galvatron in both modes with a symbol showing a desert landcape. It calls out his 5 step transformation. Below that is a cross sell for Bumblebee, Snarl and Sky-Byte. Below that is a ton of legal information in multiple languages.
Accessories
Galvatron includes two accessories:
- Tail/Weapon: The beast mode tail is a curved piece with spikes running along the top. There is a 5mm peg at the bottom and a rectangular tab in front. This piece is made of silver plastic with no paint applications.
- Cannon: Galvatron's larger weapon is a cannon. The front appears to have two openings/barrels with flames sticking out of them. On the top is a tab that you push forward to swing the two barrels back. As you do this, a single cannon barrel slides out in the middle. The barrel that slides out has a 3mm peg at the end that allows you to attach Blast Effects from Generations figures. Interestingly, you can also detach the "flames" which also have 5mm pegs, allowing Galvatron to hold them as some sort of melee weapon. The cannon is made of purple and grey plastic. The "flames" are painted a metallic orange color.
Robot Mode
When most fans of Galvatron it is likely the first thing that comes to mind the G1 character who first appeared in The Transformers: The Movie. However, this figure looks nothing like that version of the character. If you check out the official description above, you'll note that Hasbro describes this figure's alt-mode as a Junkion Dragon, something that is quite new to the world of Transformers. Much like Snarl, this figure has a lot of design cues that are Junkion-centric. These include:
- Head: The head design features visor eyes, something seen on many Junkions. However the part that makes him more Junkion like is his Horseshoe Mustache. The two details combined really give him a different vibe than the original Galvatron.
- Shoulders: The shoulders each have exhaust pipes curving upward, a callback to the motorcycle modes of the G1 Junkions.
- Spikes: On the knee area of the legs there are spikes in front and sides. Such spikes were another key design feature of the G1 Junkions.
While this design borrows a lot from Junkions, a couple of the features are G1 Galvatron-esque. The forearms are curved and tube shaped and the shape of the legs feels like it has some inspiration from the G1 version. Overall, I really like this design. The dragon head on the chest feels a bit like the beasts from G1 or some Beast Wars characters. This is definitely a design I would love to see made into a Generations style figure one day.
Galvatron is made of metallic blue and silver plastic. Paint colors include red, silver, dark grey and purple. I appreciate how these colors call back to G1 Galvatron. There are six points of articulation on this figure: the shoulders, hips and knees. The figure has six 5mm ports: the fists, the forearms and two on the back. Attaching the cannon to his right forearm gives him a bit more of a G1 Galvatron vibe.
Transformation to Beast Mode
- Detach the accessories and set them aside for now.
- Straighten out the arms and legs.
- Push the robot head down and forward. This will make the top half of the body "auto transform" into the front of the beast mode.
- Raise up the beast mode head.
- Swing each lower leg up.
- Attach the tail to the back.
- Attach the cannon to the top of the beast mode.
Beast Mode
Galvatron's beast mode is a mechanical dragon with, what appears to be a jet pack with wings on his back. Most of the details are very mechanical including the angled shape of the rear legs and the wings on the back. The beast mode head is a bit more organic looking with curves and two horns sticking out the back. Perhaps the least convincing part of the design are the beast mode feet. In the back they are really tiny since they have to be hidden under the knees. In the front they kind of merge into the robot fists. So it's not perfect, but it is an interesting beast mode that again I would love to see made into a Generations style figure in the future.
This mode shows off a lot of blue on top and most of the silver parts on the bottom. I would have liked some red on the jet pack but given the price point of these figures I'm not shocked it doesn't have it.
There really is no articulation in this mode. You might be able to count the rear legs but that's about it. The 5mm ports on the arms are still available to use (though the ones on the fists may be tough to use).
Final Thoughts
Galvatron is a really interesting take on a classic character. I really dig the design in both modes even if the articulation is rather limited. The action feature on the weapon is fun and I like the ability to swap out accessories on the main weapon. If you're into Cyberworld this figure is definitely worth having in your collection.
Pros
- A unique design for Galvatron.
- I like the "auto transform" gimmick.
- Fun accessories.
Cons
- I would have liked more articulation (but that will be a common refrain for Cyberworld figures).
- A few more red paint apps would have been cool.
