In Transformers Cyberworld, kids decide what happens — and it starts with awesome toys like the Scorponok Strike Battle Set! This 2-in-1 toy has lights and sounds and changes from a 14-inch (35 cm) robot figure into a giant 20-inch (50.5 cm) battle-ready scorpion playset in just 4 steps that are simple enough for kids ages 6 and up. Cyberworld Cyber Changers toy figures (each sold separately, subject to availability) can interact with this Transformers playset in lots of different ways: there's a detachable buzzsaw arm that becomes a hover-cycle, a claw arm ready to grab anything (or anyone) in his way, a detachable tail that becomes a sword, and 2 battle stations in his chest and legs. Electronic toys like the Scorponok Strike Battle Set make cool gifts for boys and girls who love robot toys, pretend play, and Transformers characters like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Fans and newcomers alike will love discovering the unique characters, alt modes, and environments of Cyberworld. Robot stands about 14-inches tall. Ages 6 and up. Requires 3 A76/LR44 (1.5V) batteries (included).

Background
When the Cyberworld toy line was shown at Toy Fair 2025 the largest figure revealed was Scorponok. This 20-inch (50.5 cm) figure is basically the "Titan Class" of the Cyberworld toy line, towering over other figures in the line and filled with play features. Scorponok appears in the first episode of the cartoon as well, emerging from the desert floor to attack Optimus Prime (see the episode embedded below).

Packaging
Unlike its sibling lines Generations and Studio Series, the Cyberworld line features a much brighter color palette. The box is a large rectangular box. The background is mostly white in color with the character's artwork on the right side and towards the bottom. Both the robot and beast modes are featured in the front. The "Transformers" logo is set horizontally towards the bottom with the "Cyberworld" logo below it. This is quite a change from the last decade or so where the Transformers logo has been set vertically off to the side. The box is designed to be open so you can try out Scorponok's electronic features by pushing his head down. The top of the box features a callout for its lights and sounds.

"In Box - Back (Stock Photo)"

The back of the box features Scorponok in both modes calling out a 4 step transformation. His multiple features are also represented including the ability of his saw arm to form a vehicle, the claw arm being used to grab another figure and two different uses for his shoulder cannons as manned turrets. His electronic features are also called out. Towards the bottom are cosells for Grimlock, Optimus Prime, Snarl and Sky-Byte. Overall the packaging is bright, eye catching and does a great job of showing off the various features on the figure.

"Motorcycle created by accessories"

Accessories
What is important to understand about Scorponok is that he is a toy first and foremost. This was not made as a collectible (though it can be) nor was it made to focus on articulation and a complex transformation. Instead this figure is meant to be fun! As part of that goal his accessories are generally designed to serve a dual purpose.

Sword/Stinger
Scorponok is well known for his giant mechanical scorpion beast mode. Being a scorpion, he of course has a stinger. In the case of this Scorponok he has a giant stinger that looks like a giant blade. The design seems to riff a bit off of the design of his left arm claw, with one blade extending out in front over the lower one. The middle sections have raised details that make it look like a serrated blade. The base has a circular design and the end has two circular ports and a large peg (not 5mm but larger). In beast mode this attaches to his tail, in robot mode he can hold it like a sword by attaching the ports on the sides of the hilt to the port inside his left claw. This piece is made of translucent green plastic with no paint applications.

Shoulder Cannons
Scorponok includes two dual barreled cannons that connect to his shoulders. This is a callback to G1 Scorponok's shoulder cannons. Each of these cannons has a hinged piece in the middle that allows the front to swing up to form a turret. This turret can then be attached to ports on the legs using the peg on the back of the turret. You can also attach it to the chest panel by swinging it down and attaching the 5mm peg on the bottom to the 5mm port on the chest panel. I highly recommend being careful with this because the chest panel is translucent plastic which is known to be a bit more delicate than solid colored plastic. On another fun touch, the ends of the cannon barrels can fit Blast Effects from Generations figures! This piece is made of grey and neon green plastic with no paint applications.

Tail
This is an accessory that is rather unique to the character. Instead of becoming a whip or something, the tail is broken up into two pieces, a base and an "arm" that attaches to it. This serves as the foundation for the tail to either use the Sword/Stinger or you can attach his left claw arm as a sort of crane arm. You can also detach the "arm" part and attach it to the saw arm to create a Mad Max styled motorcycle vehicle. It even has little handlebars for a Cyber Changer character to "ride" it! If you wish, you can flip around the front end to attach different accessories which was a neat option. The base of the tail is made of grey, blue and neon green plastic. The "arm" portion is orange and neon green plastic.

Arms
Both of Scorponok's arms can be detached to be used as accessories. The left arm has claws that look very similar to G1 Scorponok's claws. The right arm is not a claw but instead it is a giant, round saw blade. You can spin the saw blade manually which is kind of fun and different than most Transformers released nowadays. Both of these are made of orange and blue plastic with silver paint applications. As mentioned above, both of these accessories can be attached to other parts of the figure for different play options.

Before I even get into the robot mode review, you can tell by the accessories alone that there is a ton of play value in this figure. He's fun and I love that.

Scorponok Review

"Robot Mode"

Robot Mode
Scorponok is one of the biggest "kid-oriented" Transformers fans released in quite some time. The figure stands a little over 14-inches (about 35 cm) tall and shoulder to shoulder is about 8-inches (about 20.32 cm) wide. The figure is quite a chonk, with the lower body all being one solid piece (with some moving parts, more on that below). That said, he has plenty of sculpted details. He looks super cool with some G1 inspired details including the head sculpt with his signature "visor" and antennae and "X" designs on his shoulders. Even the shape and details on his legs are very similar to the G1 Scorponok figure even if they have no articulation. This Scorponok is a bit unique however. Even though he has a beast mode, he has giant treads on his lower legs that are part of the beast mode.

Scorponok is made up of blue, orange, neon green, grey and translucent green plastic. These super bright, eye catching colors have led some fans to consider this an unofficial G2 Scorponok since G2 was known for putting some bright colors on certain characters. Other fans felt this color scheme had an artistic "kinship" of sorts with the random Scorponok-looking 'bot who appeared in the commercial for the Micromaster Transports & Battle Stations commercial. While that faux-Scorponok did not share these colors, he is an "oddly colored" Scorponok like this one. I won't lie, these crazy colors are part of the reason I've really been looking forward to this figure. They're so wacky they really stand out against all the other figures.

There are nine points of articulation on this figure, all centered in the arms. There is not a lot of articulation because Scorponok is one giant gimmick machine. Unlike most figures released nowadays Scorponok has lights and sounds! Press his head down and it activates lights inside his chest. At the same time sounds play including:

  • A "power up" sound
  • Weapons fire
  • A sword strike that sounds like metal impacting on something.
  • Weapons fire that sounds similar to laser effects from Star Wars.
  • An alternate laser blast sound that sounds like the weapon is powering up then firing.
  • A quick noise that sounds like some type of signal.
  • A saw noise, referencing his right arm's weapon.

"Close up"

There are nineteen 5mm ports in this mode. These range from ones on his forearms to three on the side of each lower leg. While I don't count it as articulation, his visor can swing down over his eyes. You can attach a lot of weapons to him making him even more dangerous to his foes!

Transformation to Beast Mode

  1. Detach the sword and shoulder cannons and set them aside for now.
  2. Straighten out the arms.
  3. Rotate the saw forearm so the side of the blade faces forward.
  4. Swing the arms up.
  5. Swing the scorpion legs down.
  6. On the back is a handle with a large button. Hold the handle, press the button in and then push the robot forward and down.
  7. Swing the front of the feet (or the "toes") into the bottom of the feet.
  8. Attach the sword/stinger to the tail piece.
  9. Attach the shoulder cannons to the shoulders but point them forward.

The coolest part of this transformation is that the G1 transformation sound effect will play as you transform the figure! Transforming it back will then play the sound in reverse! It's been a while since we have had a figure that does this so I was overjoyed to see (and hear) this.

"Beast Mode"

Beast Mode
Calling this alt-mode a "Beast Mode" is a bit of a misnomer. Sure he is a giant mechanical scorpion complete with a claw and scorpion legs but he also has giant treads in the back and the top of the beast mode looks like a platform for warriors to stand on. So we could rightfully call him a beast-like vehicle (beasticle?). From an aesthetic point of view much of this figure takes its inspiration from G1 Scorponok. This includes the robot arms sticking out in front, the shoulder cannons pointing forward, the robot head forming the beast mode head and the mechanical legs on the sides. Of course there is also the tail with the stinger on it on top. The parts that differ a lot from the original are the design of the back and the tread sections in the back. I love the mash up of aesthetics here. No matter what you want to call this mode, it is definitely a war machine befitting a Decepticon!

This mode shows off a lot of blue plastic on the main body while the legs are neon green. The tread sections feature grey and orange plastic with neon green paint applications. If this were more of a Generations style toy I'd be wanting more paint on the main body and legs, but given the type of toy this is I'm fine with those parts being unpainted. The orange and neon green colors really pop against the darker blue and I think he looks great (in a wacky sort of way).

"Beast Mode with figures and accessories attached"

Not counting the shoulder cannons there are twelve points of articulation in this mode. This is focused on the arms and the tail. The shoulder cannons can be moved side to side and of course transformed into turrets. Most of the 5mm ports available in the robot mode can also be used in this form, though the ones on the back and arms will be the most effective. You also get four more thanks to the tail. You can have other figures in the line interact with this mode by sitting on the tail, manning the turrets and hanging out on the flat part of the back. Finally, this mode has lights and sounds as well. Push the head down again, and lights on either side of the head will flash while a sound effect plays. These are different sound effects than the robot mode! Here's a rundown:

  • A "buzzing" that may represent powering up.
  • The sound of machinery moving followed by thunderous banging (maybe the arms smashing something?).
  • Weapons fire.
  • A low buzzing that could also be an alarm.
  • Footsteps
  • An engine revving.
  • Quick footsteps.
  • A creepy set of quick noises that may be intended to be Scorponok making "beast-like" noises.
  • A loud roar.
  • A quick smashing noise.

I was genuinely surprised just how many sound effects this mode had! I loved activating them and seeing the lights in front activate. There was a time when we would get figures with lights and sounds at least once a year but nowadays it is very uncommon.

Final Thoughts
About five years ago (in 2020) Generations fans had the chance to purchase a Titan Class Scorponok which was (mostly) faithful to his G1 design. This is not a substitute for that figure. This is a different type of figure altogether. With heavy emphasis on play value blended in with some G1 aesthetics and a bold color choice this figure is unique and fun to play with. Like much of Cyberworld this figure is not for all fans, but definitely for fans who want a fun figure with lots of play features and a touch of G1 design. I think younger fans will get a huge kick out of it. Highly recommended!

Pros

  • Cool sculpt that pays homage to G1 Scorponok.
  • A wild color scheme that is unique and eye catching.
  • Plenty of play features.
  • Lots of attachment points for accessories.
  • Sound effects and lights are rare in the Transformers toy line nowadays and there are plenty of different sound effects in this figure.

Cons

  • If you're looking for a figure with good articulation, this is not the figure for you.
  • The attachment points for the turrets on the lower legs are not the tightest so it isn't hard to accidentally disconnect the turrets. If you have a figure sitting on them, they can wind up pushing the weapons out because of their weight.
