Background:
In the early days of Generation One, fans were introduced to a specialized group of Autobots known as The Wreckers. They were the guys you called upon to do the extra tough missions, sort of like an Autobot version of the teams from "A-Team" or "The Dirty Dozen". In time, the Decepticons would have their own version of that team known as the Mayhem Attack Squad. In 2025 a set of Amazon exclusives was released focusing on "versus sets" with members of these teams fighting one another.

As part of this capsule, this two pack features the (former) Pretender Carnivac versus Fisitron (aka Ironfist). Carnivac is a redeco and retool of Titans Return Wolfwire (aka Weirdwolf). This is Carnivac's first new figure since G1! Meanwhile, Fisitron is a redeco and retool of Legacy Detritus. Fisitron has appeared twice before in the Transformers toy line as a Transformers Collector's Club exclusive and Botcon 2011 exclusive but this is the first time he's been available (relatively) widely in quite some time. These reviews will focus on the changes made to these figures for this release.

Packaging:
This set is packaged in a rectangular, cardboard box made of good quality cardboard. The graphics use the new Age of the Primes design with a black background and the Transformers logo set horizontally over the "Age of the Primes" logo. Below that it says "Wreck 'N Doom Collection" with "Carnivac versus Fisitron" beneath it. Interestingly Carnivac uses the Mayhem Attack Squad logo instead of a Decepticon symbol. The box features beautiful artwork of Carnivac in beast mode leaping at Fisitron with a rocky area in the background. The new symbols showing the character affiliation and the number of steps in the transformation are on either side (18 for Carnivac, 15 for Fisitron). The back of the box shows both figures in both modes. The background is the same "space" background used on other Age of the Primes boxes. I have found the Age of the Primes packaging fairly dull compared to previous years, but this design is beautiful thanks in part to the dramatic artwork in front.

Carnivac Review

"Monxo with Survivor"

Accessories:
Carnivac features two new accessories, replacing the ones that originally came with Wolfwire. He also includes Headmaster Survivor, indicating he switched his sub-group from the Pretenders to the Headmasters.

  • Blaster: Carnivac's blaster weapon is based on the G1 weapon. The shape is the same as the original with a long barrel, a raised trapezoid shape on top and a short section in the back. There are two 5mm pegs on this weapon, one on the bottom and one on the right side. The middle has a 5mm port. This piece is made of purple plastic with brown paint.
  • Sword: The sword is much shorter than the one that came with Wolfwire. I'm actually kind of surprised the designers bothered to replace it but I think they were trying to match the tail on the G1 Carnivac figure in beast mode. This piece features a 5mm handle and a 5mm peg on either side. This piece is made of purple plastic with green paint on the blade.
  • Survivor: The Headmaster figure is the same base figure as Wolfwire's Titan Master, Monxo. The body is the same but the face plate replaces Wolfwire's with one modeled after Carnivac's robot head including visor eyes and what looks like a smirk. This piece is made up of all the main plastic colors of Carnivac himself - green, purple and gold. Paint applications include purple, green, metallic green and silver paint. He looks great and I think it's great they gave the Headmaster so much deco.

"Robot Mode"

Robot Mode:
The Headmaster face is the main design change made on this figure (there's an asterisk to that I'll get into below). Fortunately, Wolfwire's design is cool enough and has elements of the beast mode so you can definitely get Carnivac's "vibe" from the robot form even if it is not a match for his G1 design. What the designers did instead was use the deco to call back to G1 Carnivac. The figure is mostly made up of purple, green and gold plastic. The layout of the plastic colors is roughly the same as the G1 version of the character with purple on the torso, arms and thighs. The lower legs are covered with panels made of purple plastic, but a liberal amount of brown paint on them, calling back to the original Carnivac. They also painted the middle of his chest brown, a reference to G1 Carnivac's beast mode lower jaw being on his chest. A Decepticon symbol is printed onto the middle of the chest. Carnivac looks fantastic. The colors are great (and very unusual nowadays) and he calls back to G1 Carnivac brilliantly.

All the joints on my copy of this figure are nice and tight, which is great to see for a sculpt that has been reused at least once and was first released many years ago. The weapons fit in his hands nice and snug as well.

Transformation to Beast Mode:

  1. Detach Survivor and convert him into robot mode.
  2. On each forearm, swing open the top panel, swing the fist back into the forearm and close the panel.
  3. On each forearm, rotate the beast mode paws around.
  4. Swing the arms up.
  5. Swing the beast mode head/neck piece on the back forward.
  6. Holding the front and rear halves, swing the robot torso up, then forward and slide it into place, extending the body for the beast mode.
  7. Swing the panel connected to the head/neck piece back.
  8. Swing the robot feet up into the rear paws.
  9. Swing the lower leg armor up.
  10. Rotate the ankle/rear paws around.
  11. Attach the sword to the light grey piece in the back.
  12. Slide the fins on the cannons into the corresponding slots on the rear of the beast mode.

"Beast Mode"

Beast Mode:
There has been some minor retooling in this mode, mostly to prevent the panel breakage issue that Wolfwire had. For those unfamiliar, the back panel on Wolfwire's beast mode swung up on a hinge near the neck but after enough uses, the plastic wrapped around the hinge would break. This was pretty universal across most copies of Wolfwire. Hasbro recognized this and changed the plastic on this panel to prevent future breakage. I'm really glad they did this. To add some functionality, this same panel now had a 5mm port in it, allowing you to attach the blaster to his back. This recreates the way G1 Carnivac would use his weapon in beast mode. You can still attach Wolfwire's weapons to the slots on the back if you wish.

This mode shows off a lot of purple plastic on the front, middle and back of the main body. The rear feet are purple as well. Bits of green are mixed in here and there such as on the front paws and the shoulders. The inside of his mouth is painted silver but perhaps the most amusing bit of deco is the eyes. In beast mode, G1 Carnivac had "visor eyes" but the designers did not retool the beast mode head. Instead, the eyes are painted but they also painted "visor eyes" that wrap around the eye area. The rather amusing result is he has a "visor eye" wrapping around the head but he also has individual eyes you can see very clearly.

All the joints and attachment points for weapons are still nice and tight on this figure.

Fisitron Review

Accessories:
Fisitron represents a significant retool of the Detritus sculpt and that means he has all new accessories in place of the ones included with Detritus. There are three accessories altogether but they come together to form a cannon based on the weapon included with G1 Ironfist. Here's a breakdown of the three parts:

  • Blaster: The blaster included with this figure looks like a rifle. The end piece is tube shaped with openings on the sides. This is based off the barrel of G1 Ironfist's weapon. This piece features a 5mm peg on the bottom and a tip that you can use to attach Blast Effects. This piece is made of blue plastic with yellow paint.
  • Ammo Drum: The original Ironfist figure had a mechanism that allowed you to turn a dial on top to make his weapon move as if it was firing. This version of the character does not have such a mechanism, but the designers did create a round ammo drum that looks like the original one. This piece has a 5mm peg on the bottom, allowing you to attach it to the figure. I like to use it on his forearm to make it a shield. This piece is silver plastic with yellow painted on the spiral pattern on top. The spiral detail comes right from the original Ironfist and it looks great.
  • Base: For lack of a better term the blaster and the drum connect to a "base" piece forming a cannon. This rectangular design with various panels sculpted into it are based on the original Ironfist's weapon and it looks great. This piece has a 5mm peg on the botto and a 5mm port on top. There is also a 5mm port on either side, allowing you to attach additional accessories. This piece is made of blue plastic with silver in the front and yellow on a panel detail on top.

All three of these pieces combine to form a new version of the original Ironfist's weapon. The blaster fits under the right side and the drum attaches to the top. This can then sit on top of the vehicle mode or fit into Fisitron's hand in robot mode. I really appreciate the effort put into these accessories. Hasbro could have taken the cheaper way out and just repaint Detritus' weapons but they didn't.

"Fisitron in Robot Mode"

Robot Mode:
While Carnivac does feature some retooling, the designers really did some extensive retooling for Fisitron. In this mode you don't see a lot of it but it's there, mostly on the "back pack". I'll go into that more in the vehicle mode review. For now, the main retooling in this mode is the robot head which is based on his various depictions over the years. It has a round helmet with a mouth plate that features some notches on top. The rest of the sculpt is the same as Detritus (and by extension, Hound). This means he still has a lot of vestigial features from Siege Hound. These include thirteen 5mm pegs to attach accessories and two small pegs on his shoulders to attach Blast Effects. All twenty four points of articulation are still nice and tight.

While many details on this figure are callbacks to the original Ironfist, his color scheme is not. Instead, his colors appear to be more based on the IDW Publishing comic books version of the character. The plastic colors include silver, black and gold. Paint colors include silver, black and green. The green is used for his eyes, making him rather unique among most Transformers being released nowadays. The colors look good but I cannot help but wish this had come in the beige, blue and green colors of the original. That said, this deco is the one more fans are familiar with so I get why they went with it. I'm just Old Skool.

Transformation to Vehicle Mode:

  1. Detach all the accessories and set them aside for now.
  2. Straighten out the arms and legs.
  3. Swing the back pack out, then swing out the panel under it (keep this part angled upward for now).
  4. Swing the arms back at the shoulders.
  5. Swing the inner panels of each lower leg out and straighten them out.
  6. Swing up the chest to cover the head.
  7. Swing the arms under the front of the vehicle mode.
  8. Rotate the arms so they can bend, tucking into the bottom of the vehicle.
  9. Rotate the side panels with the wheels and tab them into the front section on either side.
  10. Push down the rear piece forming the top of the vehicle mode.
  11. Combine the accessories into the larger cannon, then attach it to the top of the vehicle.

"Fisitron in Vehicle Mode"

Vehicle Mode:
The original Ironfist transformed into a Humvee with a giant weapon on top. Detritus was a jeep with an open top section. Yet thanks to retooling wizardry, Hasbro has managed to turn a Jeep-esque vehicle into a Humvee-like vehicle. This is mostly thanks to replacing the windshield section on Detritus with a whole new "back pack" that has a piece extending out the back. This creates much needed bulk on the vehicle to make into a Humvee styled vehicle and it looks great. One thing that also helps give this vehicle some added bulk involves the robot foot pieces which are set vertically on the sides of the vehicle instead of folding down as they do on Detritus. This makes it look like there is extra armor on the sides, which is super cool.

This mode mostly shows off silver plastic with some black and blue plastic breaking it up. Paint colors include silver, yellow, metallic blue, dark blue and yellow. While there are not a ton of paint applications in this mode, there are just enough that are distributed from front to back that the vehicle looks really good. Again, I'd love a more G1 based deco, but for what this is, it works very well.

This mode features two 5mm ports on either side of the vehicle while there are two vertical ports on the back, but because of the new parts on top it may be a bit difficult to attach certain weapons to that area. You'll need something relatively thin to fit there. You can also attach weapons to the cannon on top as well, adding to the play value of this vehicle.

Final Thoughts:
I have been a fan of Ironfist (aka Fisitron) since I bought the original figure back in the 90's. Just something about the visual impact of the character always appealed to me. Having a new version in Generations is awesome. As for Carnivac, I was never a big fan of the character but I do appreciate the inclusion of a relatively obscure character into the main line of Transformers toys. I'm also very happy the panel on the back has been changed so it will not break. I really dig this set. Highly recommended!

Pros:

  • Excellent retools of both figures.
  • Cool deco (though I favor Carnivac's).
  • Two (relatively) obscure characters in one set.
  • All joints are nice and tight.
  • New accessories for both figures.

Cons:

  • I would have preferred a more G1 deco for Fisitron.
