Takara Tomy has announced a new "Generations Selects" release of the "Power of the Primes" Dinobots. The original set featured four Deluxe Dinobots and one Voyager Class figure who would combine into the Combiner, Volcanicus! While the Dinobot sculpts would act as foundational sculpts for many retools and redecos to come, the Dinobots themselves have not been given a pure redeco treatment since their original release. Now Takara Tomy is changing that with a special release of Volcanicus in a boxed set. The new decos are based on the appearance of the Dinobots from the Generation One cartoon with bright and retro styling. Even better? New parts have been added including two giant swords for Volcanicus! Check out the official product descriptions and images below (via Google Translate):
"GENERATION SELECTS" is a "GENERAL SELECTIONS" that is a normal GENERATION series, and develops characters that have not been commercialized as "new" or "only for online sales"!
Beast Warrior Revival! The combiner dynobot released separately in the POWER OF THE PRIMES series will be re-released as GENERATION SELECTS as a united set with redesigned specifications.
The coloring specification has been redesigned based on the animated color image, and the movable finger fist for coalescence and foot parts adopted by Seacons are used.
Two giant magma blades, which are new weapons, are included, and a new weapon for Grimmlock is also included, allowing you to power up in a united state. The combined warrior Volcanikas is a giant robot created by combining five dynobots. The dynobot leader: Grimlock is the center of each dynobot as arms and legs.
Each Dynobot can be transformed from a dinosaur mode to a humanoid/union mode. The combiner joint used for uniting is a mechanism that has been used continuously from the "UNITE WARRIORS" series developed from 2016, and it is possible to play with compatibility with items that have this joint.
Dinobot Commander Grimlock Dinobot leader: It transforms from a Tyrannosaurus type mechanical dinosaur. Transformed into a Volcanikas body. The change from the POTP (POWER OF THE PRIMES) series specifications is to abolish the sticker specification that reproduces the image of the G1 toy, and change it to the painting specification that imagined the animation color. Many of the parts in the silver part, which resemble a steel body, have been painted to give it a more profound appearance. It can be equipped with a new part, Volka Vulcan. Two new handguns are included. By changing the eye color to blue, the character image that appeared in the animation is reproduced.
Dynobot artillery warrior Swap It transforms from a Pteranodon-type mechanical dinosaur. Transformed into Volcanikas' right arm. The changes from the POTP series specifications changed from the specifications that reproduced the G1 toy image to the painting specifications that imaged the animation color. Especially by matching the color of the robot head with the animation, the image reproducibility is increased. Similar to Grimlock, the parts in the silver part, which resemble a steel body, are painted to give it a more profound appearance. The silver image color of the wings is changed to a bright color according to the animation settings. By changing the eye color to blue, the character image that appeared in the animation is reproduced.
Dynobot Flame Warrior Slug Transformed from a Triceratops type mechanical dinosaur. Transformed into the left arm of Volcanikas. The changes from the POTP series specifications changed from the specifications that reproduced the G1 toy image to the painting specifications that imaged the animation color. In particular, the impression is changed by changing the robot head color and the color that was black in the G1 toy reproduction to red according to the animation, thereby increasing the image reproducibility of the main part of the animation. Some people who feel the G1 toy might feel strange that the color of the corner is not red, but change the color according to the animation. To reproduce the animation image, the silver paint uses two colors to represent the body. By changing the eye color to blue, the character image that appeared in the animation is reproduced.
Dynobot dense forest warrior Suraji It transforms from a Brontosaurus type mechanical dinosaur. Transformed into the right leg of Volcanikas. The changes from the POTP series specifications changed from the specifications that reproduced the G1 toy image to the painting specifications that imaged the animation color. The arms were painted differently to match the G1 toys, and adjustments have been made as far as the structure and materials allow. Two silver paint colors are used to reproduce the animated image. By changing the eye color to blue, the character image that appeared in the animation is reproduced.
Dynobot Desert Warrior Snall
Dynobot dense forest warrior Suraji It transforms from a Stegosaurus type mechanical dinosaur. Transformed into the left leg of Volcanikas. The changes from the POTP series specifications changed from the specifications that reproduced the G1 toy image to the painting specifications that imaged the animation color. The area of the black part is wide, and the impression is different. The robot body color has been changed, and the red area has been increased according to the animation image. Fine adjustments such as changing the paint on the tail and around the neck are also made. By changing the eye color to blue, the character image that appeared in the animation is reproduced.
Dinobot Combined Warrior Volcanikas The strongest form that combines five Dynobots. Equipped with two large magma blades on the back, a new weapon Volca Vulcan is attached to the chest. The changes from the POTP series specifications are two magma blades that are additionally equipped, and a volcano vulcan on the chest. Uses movable finger type fist for coalescence and foot parts adopted from King Poseidon. For the foot parts, new parts that reproduce the huge three claws are used. The heel parts can also be used as a Grimmlock handgun. As for the color design, the appearance that makes use of the silver coating of each dynobot and the color difference of each place have been redesigned to produce a power-up feeling.
The "Generations Selects" Volcanicus boxed set has a suggested retail price of ¥ 22,000 (about $207 USD). It is set to be released in February 2021.
