Game News: Splash Damage Announces Cancellation of "Transformers: Reactivate"

01/08/25

Sad news from the world of Transformers gaming today.  The folks at Splash Damage have announced that the long awaited Transformers: Reactivate game has been canceled.  You can see the social media post embedded below:

Transformers: Reactivate was first announced in December 2022 with a striking teaser trailer (embedded below).

Then few updates followed, but fans had some hope as two action figure sets were released featuring Optimus Prime versus Soundwave and Bumblebee versus Starscream based on designs from the game.  Then on December 6, 2023 they announced on Facebook that there would be no updates until 2024 (see post below):

No significant news was posted after that until today.   No explanation has been given as to why the game is being cancelled but for those who were hoping to play as their favorite Cybertronians in a post-apocalyptic Earth they will have to wait til another studio decides to make a similar game.  This is not the first time a Transformers game in development has been canceled.  In 2022 Niantic canceled Transformers: Heavy Metal as it cut 8% of its staff.

For now there are other games on the market including the long running Transformers: Earth Wars, Transformers: Tactical Arena and the recently released Galactic Trials.
